Weekly Info - Schedules - Game Reports (4/1-16):
1) THANK YOU to Mark Gringereit for making the Player/Parent Card. He brought them to the Lakeland game to distribute (one per family). If you did not receive one, reply to Kathy Z's email, and she will set one aside for you.
2) GAMES:
April 1 (Thursday) - Varsity at 5:30 PM @ MHS vs Lake Fenton;
April 1 (Thursday) - JV departs on bus at 3:00 to Linden for 4:30 PM kickoff.
April 13 (Tuesday) - @ Holly: JV @ 5:30, Varsity @ 7:00
April 15 (Thursday) - HOME vs N. Farmington; JV @ 5:30 , Varsity @ 7:00
3) PRACTICES: Spring Break
April 5 & 7 - from 10 - 11:30 AM
April 11 (Sunday) - VARSITY from 7 - 8:30 PM
4) There are a few pairs of extra SOCKS available at $7.50 a pair. Reply to Kathy Z's email if you are interested and what color.
5) COMEBACK INN fundraiser - they've graciously offered us APRIL 14 (Wednesday) for an all day fundraiser. Any meal tab can earn the team 10%. Mark you calendars and we will have more info when we return from spring break.
6) The SILPADA fundraiser starts April 14. Look for your packets the week we return from spring break . . . just in time for Mother's Day presents!.
7) GAME PICTURES - the site now has the link set up on the right side to view, copy or upload pictures. For those taking pictures, let us know when you're ready to upload, and we'll help you get them on the site.

Mavs Beat Lake Fenton, 6-0
Milford's Lady Mavs soccer team went off to spring break after a 6-0 win over Lake Fenton.
The Mavs started fast with a goal in the first minute, when freshman Paige Smith sent a pass up to senior captain Adrien Allward, who banged a shot past the Lake Fenton keeper. Milford had several attacks in the first half, but had to rely on a solid defense and goal keeping from sophomore Emily Mienkwic to keep the lead.
The second half was like a different game. The Mavs again scored in the first minute, when they marched down the field on their first drive, and junior captain Samantha Sturgeon took a pass from Allward, and drilled a shot into the nets. Milford maintained constant pressure in the offensive end. Minutes later, Sturgeon this time passed off to senior Ryan Winn, who shot past the Blue Devel keeper. The Mavs continued their offensive assault, when the freshman Smith charged into the box to take control of a loose ball, and scored her third goal of the season.
Late in the game, the seniors finished off Lake Fenton. Senior Hayley Bensek took the ball down the left wing, then lobbed a well placed cross pass into the box to Allward, who shot to the wide post for her second goal of the game. Winn also scored her second goal after taking a pass from Smith, and then used her footwork to maneuver past two Blue Devil defensemen, and shot over the goal keeper. The Mavs had several more good scoring plays, with long shots on goal by senior captain Tess Zasuwa.
The defense didn't let Lake Fenton sustain much offense, with only a couple of saves needed from senior Sara Cupp.
Earlier in the week, the Mavs played an evenly played game against Lakeland on Tuesday. Both teams had a few scoring plays, but only Lakeland was able to score in the last minute of play of the first half. Milford tried to get some scoring plays late in the second half, but were unable to find the nets, with the game ending 1-0.
Milford's record is 2-1, with games resuming after spring break.
